Being a manga reader first, I was quite skeptical at first, as I loved the writing and art style of the manga, and thought that an anime adaptation for such an ambitious and genre-bending manga would be watered down in both art and animation, especially when I saw the first few looks (very skeptical about there being less character detail) but all those concerns were quickly put to rest when I finally heard that Science SARU was doing it, not to mention their recent lineup of Scott Pilgrim, Devilman Crybaby, and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken all fit the craziness and vibe of DandaDan, also the founder of the studio Masaaki Yuasa is one of my all-time favorite anime directors/animators, having worked on shows such as Ping Pong, Tatami Galaxy, and Devilman again.
Since the first episode came out, I’ve been waiting for the next one week after week, because it doesn’t pale in comparison to the manga, sometimes even better
I was mostly worried because it was the first anime I had read, but now I know that Dandadan has established itself not only as a phenomenal manga but also as an excellent anime.
