In the field of cinematography and screenwriting, it is advisable to limit the narration of the characters, allowing the actions, conversations and scenes to speak for themselves. However, if there is an exception, and it is named, Dexter! From the very beginning, I was fascinated by Dexter’s character – a dark, introverted person.
Seasons 1 and 2 stood out in particular, earning a commendable 9/10
The strength of the character development was evident, supported by an impeccable cast and an engaging crime-filled storyline. However, the quality of the series began to decline after that. The introduction of new characters and excessive drama weighed down what was once a classic series. Despite my love for the character, I felt a gradual decline in his charm, including Debra’s.
However, I must emphasize that the first two seasons are mandatory and should not be missed
The writing and direction were solid, but Dexter himself stood as the centerpiece while his portrayal of dark humor remained the standout aspect. His narration through the episodes was a unique perspective from which we learned how he experienced things, people and crime; it was utterly stunning. I recommend this series, but I invite viewers to approach it at their own pace and choose the number of seasons in which to indulge.
